Fun fact: Wellington to Auckland train journey is what inspired Peter Jackson to want to make Lord of the Rings in New Zealand. He was reading the books and watching the landscape from that train and realized it was the perfect fit. That train is high on my bucket list for that reason!
After visiting Wellington you can board the northern explorer train for the last part of your journey to Auckland via different terrains and landscapes. Enjoy the variety of scenery including: volcanic plateaus, lush farmland and everything in-between as you travel to Auckland.
