Norway introduces new overnight taxes in popular fjord towns

From 2025, visitors staying in Norway's busiest fjord destinations will pay new overnight taxes.

Several municipalities around Norway’s most visited fjords — including areas serving cruise ports and popular hiking trails — have voted to introduce small overnight taxes on hotels, cabins, and campsites starting in 2025. According to local authorities, the fees will be added to accommodation bills and used to maintain hiking trails, waste facilities, and public transport.
