Norway introduces new overnight taxes in popular fjord towns
From 2025, visitors staying in Norway's busiest fjord destinations will pay new overnight taxes.
Several municipalities around Norway’s most visited fjords have voted to introduce small overnight taxes for hotels, cabins and campsites from 2025.
The fees will be added to local accommodation bills and used to maintain hiking trails, waste facilities and public transport serving cruise ports.
At the same time, local authorities are reminding visitors to follow updated behaviour guidelines, including respecting quiet hours and parking rules in small villages.
